Here's the story:
On August 11th, I participated in a Breast Cancer Benefit / Golf Tournament by donating a necklace set and a portion of my proceeds at the business that was sponsoring it, Pat & Wally's in Bellevue. While setting up at shows, there are usually a few curious on lookers and question askers, and this day was no different. However, one gentleman seemed to be asking a lot more questions than normal, and it soon became obvious that he knew about jewelry. I finally asked if he was involved in jewelry, and he told me that he's a Master Jeweler at Borsheim's. He paid me some very nice compliments about my work and before the day was over, he asked if I would be interested in an apprenticeship at Borsheim's....I'll let that sink in for a moment....well, of COURSE!!! It's never that easy though.
After much discussion back and forth between myself and Borsheim's, it came down to this choice - I could learn to make jewelry with the best in the business and be paid for it, OR, I could continue on as I was - making jewelry in my spare time, selling at shows, in local boutiques and online. I couldn't have it both ways - it was one or the other.
This was a very tough decision for all of us, and MANY factors went into deciding. It came down to this though – how could I pass up such a wonderful opportunity??? If I didn’t take it, I would forever look back and wonder, “what if”?
What does this mean for you? Simply that until the end of this year (2007), I will be at the shows I already have scheduled (see http://www.allthingsangie.com/ShowsEvents.html for details). I will be able to sell my jewelry online and take custom orders until the end of this year. After that, no more shows or online sales. I will still continue to make jewelry for myself, friends and family. Also, I will continue to post new pieces on my site, but without prices. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have!
Sincerely,
Angie Simonsen
Future Master Jeweler :^)
